Chapter 1:
On the outskirts of Nordmara town, a small village in the country lays the magnificent Nordmara Forest.  The forest is full of towering, ancient trees reaching up to the soft white clouds and blue skies, moss covered stumps dotted round the forest from trees that once danced in the summer breeze and muddy worn paths showing the way to weary travellers.

Through the middle, a stream only 3 or 4 feet wide flows tranquilly by. The Bright warm sun breaks through the patchwork of green leaves like a spotlight on the forest`s stage. The suns reflection dances on the waters surface, occasionally catching on the fish`s scales, painting rainbows in the stream. The sound of the water trickling across the stones and tree roots is quiet and peaceful.  It’s so tranquil that if you listen carefully, you can hear the wind ruffling the leaves covering the tree tops and the sound of squirrel claws running up the bark of the trees as they make there way to the top, to the light of day. Beside the stream, deep under the layers of damp, broken bark of tree stumps, hundreds of crawling spiders, scuttling woodlice and scrambling millipedes run around, sheltering from the light. Moss covers the top of them, making them inviting for young children to come and sit on, covering their clothes in  light green grass stains, evidence that they had experienced a day of fun, laughter and wild dreams. Along the muddy paths, imprinted with foot steps of many travelers, big and small, and their trusty four legged companions, is a large magical pool.  It glows a magical, crystal blue color, the shade of blue only seen in dreams by little children who live each day care free and happy. Thick tree branches hang, suspended over the glowing pool, mirroring the large, outspread tree canopies on the waters surface. But the image is distorted by tiny dragonflies, glowing magnificent colors of emerald green, ruby red and sapphire blue jumping and hovering across the top of the water. Also tiny water spiders glide across the surface, creating ripples behind them.

Looking ahead, the narrow path covered in Carpet moss and lined with Guelder Rose, lady Fern and White Birch winds it way through the green curtain of trees, leading off to a mystical waterfall and to undiscovered parts of the forest. To the left a steep slope rises high up. It is covered in many fallen leaves, carpet moss and Ferns, creating the perfect adventure area for many long summer days. To the right is the entrance to the forest from a car park, and a small, wooden bridge.  The bridge was just a simple bridge, about 6 planks of wood lined on in front of the other to walk across and two thin pieces of wood, with one balancing on top at the sides. The floor of the bridge was encased in dried mud and leaves and the forest floor was beginning to take over the bridge, hiding it from the world.
However this was not just a normal, old rotting forest bridge, something guarded it, used it as shelter from the world above. No, it’s not a troll guarding this bridge, stopping three Billy goats from crossing nor is it a bridge leading to the home of three bears or a house made of ginger bread and sweets, with sugar windows. What is guarding this bridge is much smaller than trolls and bears, much more delicate and often mischievous. This bridge is different from normal wooden bridges, and this Forest is different from normal Forests.

Chapter 2:
The warm autumn sun shone down through the cluster of trees in the forest, the stream was fresh and cool flowing fast over the rocks. The birds high up in the trees were softly chirping away and the squirrels could be heard jumping from one tree to another, it was a perfect day. He had been wondering through the forest for a little while now, enjoying the sound of the stream running along side the path, the warm sun shining down on him and the cool breeze blowing, making the temperature nice and cool. He is a slender 5’ 5" teenager; his hair, a light shade of chestnut brown, swept into a rough tangled style as the breeze blew. He has defined cheek bones and soft clear skin tone, with a band of small freckles delicately placed along his cheeks and nose. His eyes are a deep shade of brown, full of wonder and happiness. He has a comforting, gentle smile on his face as he admires mother natures work around. He wears a pair of slightly faded black jeans, a plain white top with blue checkered shirt over the top. Over his should hang a black, worn, leather bag with two silver buckles on the front clasping it shut. His name, Jack Chambers. He is 17 and loves photography. He used to live in an apartment in a city a few hours away. His dad left when he was 5 and so his mum brought him up on her own. She is a police officer and she recently decided to take a step down and take up the position as head community police officer in Nordmara town. The move from the exciting busy life of the city to a much more laid back and slow life in Nordmara town was not an overly popular one with Jack. Nordmara is a small quiet town in the country where everyone seems to know everyone.  The forest in Nordmara was one of the only things that made the move easier for Jack. He believes true beauty is always found in nature, so when he was told that the new village was surrounded by large forests, he was not so reluctant to move and looked forward to walking amongst the towering trees and the thundering waterfall that fell in the heart of the forest.
Jack bent down and ran his fingers in the cool trickling water, watching the fish swim down the stream in all their magical colors moving gracefully with the rhythm of the stream. The water felt fresh and icy on his long, bony fingers like a fresh winter’s morning. He smiled and looked across to a large rock that he could see in the corner of his eye in the middle of the stream, hovering above it was dragonfly; its body was a bold blue color which shimmered as it was caught in the sun light. “You’re beautiful!” whispered Jack smiling as he slowly pulled his camera out of his bag, trying not to scare the dragonfly away as he did so. He positioned his camera and pressed the button, as soon as the shutter clicked the tiny creature flew away. Jack stood up and smiled watching the dragonfly sweep of into a near by bush abundant with red flowers. The forest was full of tiny, delicate creatures.
He looked up at the bright green canopies which were slowly turning rich shades of red, yellow and orange as autumn drew in with the wind. He turned round and carried on walking along the dry, muddy path, the recent fallen leaves crunching under his feet. Every so often he stopped and gazed round at the magnificent forest occasionally capturing different bright plants, that mimicked colourful stain glass windows is the streaming sun light, and tiny animals with his camera. He weaved through the cluster of trees and bushes, stepping over fallen logs covered in moss and climbing through the trees encased in glossy, invisible spider webs, feeling as if he was in his own little world, no one would come and disturb him.

He eventually came to the large pool. The pool was glowing in the sun light, it was surrounded by three large, wise oak trees that grew right at the waters edge. Jack decided to take a break from exploring.  He went and sat under one of the trees leaning back against the rough bark, watching the suns reflection dance on the water as ripples appeared when fish came up to the surface. Twilight was beginning to set in and the sky was beginning to turn a light, warm pink colour changing the atmosphere of the forest from mysterious and magnificent to warm, gentle and romantic. Just as he was relaxing against the tree taking in his wonderful surroundings, he felt something vibrating against his leg. It was his phone, the silence and tranquility had been disturbed. He pulled it out of his pocket and looked at the screen.
“Mum” he read rolling his eyes as he answered it.
“Hey, you here?” he asked
“Yes, I’m in the car park,”
“Ok I’m on my way now.” He said and hung up. He leant his head back and closed his eyes, wishing he could stay all night and watch the stars decorate the sky above the trees. He then came back to reality and opened his eyes, squinting from the brightness. He turned off his camera and slipped in back into his bag.
He made his way back through the white birch trees, and ancient oaks. He passed the waterfall once again and listened to the thundering of the water crashing against the rocks at the bottom. Suddenly, as he passed it, something caught the corner of his eye. He quickly looked round at the waterfall, but could not see anything. He stared at a large bolder that sat just behind the curtain of falling water. He shook his head in confusion, “No, it was nothing.” He whispered to himself and carried on walking. Then he heard something. He carried on walking thinking it was the water, or the birds in the trees, or just his imagination running wild in his surroundings “I have stayed in this forest too long.” he laughed closing his bag and was about to continue walking when he heard it again, a noise that was enchanting and magical, a tune that would be found playing in an old music box. It was a soft twinkling noise, “It sounds like... singing,” he thought looking around for anything, someone whistling or a bird singing. There was nobody around. The noise continued, occasionally being interrupted by a childish sounding laughter. He looked around trying to follow it, he looked in the river but saw nothing but tiny dragonflies and other bugs, he looked up into the trees, but there was nothing.

He then looked towards the waterfall and suddenly he saw a flash of color, blue, and pink, and purple behind the dropping water. He closed his eyes for a moment, thinking maybe it was a trick from the light. He slowly opened his eyes, expecting the colours to have disappeared but this did not happen. The ribbons on colour were still there, as if they were blowing in the breeze. For a moment he just stood there not blinking just watching the different colours dance magically, occasionally colliding together, and intertwining. He carefully stepped on the large rocks in the stream, using them as stepping stones to the other side just as he was about to step on the last one his foot slipped on the wet moss and it splashed into the water. He quickly pulled his foot out shaking it vigorously looking down as he crossed the last rock to the other side. However when he looked back across at the waterfall, the streams of colour has disappeared, the singing had stopped. He cautiously walked across to the waterfall, the spray coming down on him like rain. He looked around, he could not see anyone, no colors, no people, no animals, nothing. He shook his head, “What am I doing!” he questioned and made his way, carefully, back across the boulders to the path.  As he was walking along the trail again, the soft singing was playing in his head; he could not stop it. He could not stop thinking about how delicate and beautiful it was, like a lullaby.
As he reached the wooden bridge he once again heard the laughter, at first he ignored it, but it got louder as he crossed the bridge. Suddenly there was five of six splashed in the stream under the bridge, like someone had just dropped a load of pebbles in. He quickly grabbed the wooden rail at the side and leaned over the edge, looking down into the water. At first he did not notice anything strange of abnormal in the stream but then he saw it, shimmering in the sunlight.  Silver glitter. But it did not look like normal glitter; it was much finer, like dust. The silver substance began to swirl round it a circle faster and faster like a mini cyclone, but the stream was calm. It began to swirl round forming different patterns and shapes. Jack quickly pulled his camera out of his bag and took a photo, maybe it was just glitter that had been dropped in, but something inside Jack told him to remember it, to take a photograph.
*Jack over here!” Shouted his mum from the car. He jumped and looked across at her. He smiled and raised his hand, letting her know he was coming. When he looked back at the stream, the glitter had gone, he looked down the stream but it was no where. He slipped is camera back in his bag and walked down to the car. “You had a good day exploring?” smiled his mum looking across at him.
“Yeh I suppose.”
“You suppose, if you were not having fun, why did you stay all day?” She laughed.
“No, it was good, yeh.” He did not feel like talking much, all he kept thinking about was the colors, the singing and laughter and... the glitter.  “So did you take lots of photos in the woods?” She asked. He was staring out of the window not really hearing what his mum was asking him, he was deep in thought. “Yes mum, I had a great day I have taken lots of pictures in the woods, it was a very productive day!” She said sarcastically when she got no response from him. Suddenly he realized she had been talking to him. “Sorry, what did you say?” He asked, honestly not hearing what she has said.
“I said did you take lots of photographs? Jack are you ok, you seem very.... quiet, defiantly not yourself.” She asked as they drove along the narrow street.
“Yes I’m fine, I’m just...” he said, thinking of what excuse he could use for not talking much, “I’m just tired.” He smiled staring out of the car window again.
“Long day exploring!” He laughed looking back at his mum, there was no point worrying her over his over active imagination, at least that was the only conclusion he could come too. There was silence the rest of the way home.

When they reached the house, jack got out of the car and went straight to his room. He sat down at his computer and waited impatiently for the internet to load up. So many things were running through his head, he was oblivious to anything around him. “ Soft, delicate singing coming from no where, bright colourful streaming lights, no one around,  what the hell was that?” He questioned, searching his brain for some logical answer, but the doors were shut, there was no answer, he had no idea what it was, but one thing was for certain. He had seen something in that forest, it was not his imagination.

When the internet had loaded he searched Nordmara Forest. He clicked on the first link, it was the town website. He scrolled down to where it said about the forest. He desperately read through the three paragraphs about the forest, hoping to find some kind of answer for what had happened, but had no idea what he was expecting it to say. He read the first paragraph out loud, searching for a clue.
` Nordmara forest is an ancient forest full of many different species of wild flowers, trees and animals. It is a popular place for passing tourists to visit with its towering ancient oak trees and its many delicate insects such as dragonflies and water spiders, and if your lucky you may catch sight of animals such as Tailed frogs (Ascaphus truei) and Pilot fish (Naucrates ductor) swimming through the stream that runs through the middle of the forest.`

“Maybe it was some type of animal creating the colours behind the waterfall” He thought. He opened a new window and searched ` Tailed frogs`. When it loaded he clicked on images. “It’s worth a try.” He muttered to himself as the pictures loaded. He scrolled through the images that came up and clicked on the first one. A picture of a small brown and green frog came up. “Well it wasn’t them, the colours were much brighter” he said as he closed the picture. He then went back to the information on the forest and continued reading.
` In the forest there are many different birds such as White-capped dippers, Rosy Pipits and Marsh Wrens to name a few.”

He went back to the picture search and looked up the birds listed. He looked at different images to see what their colours were, hoping he could put the colours down to birds flying behind the water. “White-capped Dippers are black and white, Rosy Pipits are black and white with small parts of pink and yellow and Marsh Wrens are Brown black and white.” He said, realizing it can’t have been any of these birds.
“They were bright colours, yellow, purple, and red, blue...” He recalled thinking back to the waterfall and what he had seen. He leaned back in his chair and sighed deeply. Why am I thinking about this so much he thought, but he had no answer, all he knew was there was something inside him not letting him forget any of it. He went back to the town website to read the bit of information about the forest.
`In the heart of the magnificent forest is the Nordmara water fall. The water falls 30 feet from the top of the ledge of the hill that lies in the South side of the forest. The water that falls and fills the plunge pool at the bottom is clear and clean. Different water bugs and animals can be seen here swimming around. Behind the waterfall….” Jack leaned forward and desperately read about the waterfall hoping it was going to say that a bright coloured animal or plant is found behind the curtain of water. He carried on reading. ` Is a small ledge which is popular with kids in the hot summers.`  He leaned forward and leant on his elbow huffing at the lack of information. He shut down his computer and decided to leave it for today, maybe he will have forgotten about it all tomorrow.

After dinner he came upstairs to his room and laid on his bed. He looked up at the ceiling where old glow in the dark stars were stuck to the ceiling, from when a pervious small child inhabited the room. He closed his eyes and thought about everything. “Why can’t I just forget about it all” he exclaimed pressing his hands against his forehead, Then he thought, I don’t want to just forget it though. He sat up and opened his eyes, he realised he could not get it all out of his head because he didn’t want to, he wanted to discover what this mysterious thing was in the forest. He leaned back again and closed his eyes, the twinkling song began to play in his head and it was so soothing and peaceful that he fell asleep.

Chapter 3:
The rain fell hard the next day. Jack woke up and looked across to the window and groaned and the water ran down the window. He ran his hand across his face and through his hair which was very tangled from where he tossed and turned during the night. He sat up in his bed and noticed he was fully dressed. He then remembered lying on his bed last night and realised he must have fallen asleep. He rolled out of bed and walked across to the window. He looked down onto the driveway and noticed his mum`s car was not there. He noticed large pools of water along the street where the pavement was uneven and he looked across and saw the forest, he could see a thick morning mist hanging above the trees.

Still half asleep he took of yesterdays clothes and put on a new pair of jeans, and blue top and a thick navy hooded jumper. He picked up the old clothes from the floor and carried them down stairs to the washing machine. As he began to put the clothes in the machine he noticed light green stains on them, he then remembered everything once again. He pushed the achine door shut and turned it on, water began filling up in the drum as he walked towards the kitchen. On the counter was a crumpled piece of paper with a note from his mum scribbled in faint pencil written on it. It read
` Morning Jack, sorry I have been called in to work, there should be some stuff for breakfast in the house, I will see you later, love mum xxx` He screwed the paper into a small ball and threw it at the bin, a perfect shot. He smiled as it flew straight in and walked across to the cupboard to find some food.

Lined up next to each other were different boxes of cereal. He grabbed one and pulled it out. He took a bowl from the cupboard and tipped out a dry pile of musli. He turned his noseup as the dusty substance that filled his bowl and put the box back. He shuffled across to the fridge and pulled open the stiff door and took out the chilled glass of milk. He went back over to his breakfast and began to pour the cold milk over the dry cereal. Infront of him was a large window looking out across the small garden. Just as he put the glass of milk down on the counter next to him, a flash of deep blue light flew across the garden. He looked up and shook his head when another stream of blue flew across. It made him jump and leaned across the counter knocking the glass of milk over. He pressed his face against the cold, moist window trying to see what has flew across the garden- there was nothing. He quickly skipped across to the back door and fumbled with the key trying to unlock it. When he finally opened the door and jumped out into the garden and ran to the side alley where the light had gone, once again-nothing. As he stood there staring down the alleyway, the rain fell hard down on him making his wet hair stick to his face. A Barn owl sat in a near by tree and it hooted deeply, it caught his attention againt and he then realised he was standing on very cold wet grass and he ran back inside. He closed the door and turned round, seeing a pool of white milk dripping on the floor. He sighed and grabbed a cloth and began to clear it up.

“This place is so weird” He laughed and he mopped up the last bit of milk from the floor. He stood up and threw the heavy cloth in the sink and picked up his bowl of cereal from the counter and took one last look outside before going into the living room. He slumped down on the sofa and began to eat the soggy musli while watching the news on the television.  He stared at the screen but was not really listening to what it was saying, it was more background noise so he did not have to listen to the rain falling fast outside. Once he had finished he took his bowl back into the kitchen and make his way to his room. As he walked into his room, he saw his camera sitting on his desk, he walked across and picked it up with a smile on his face. “Maybe something will come up on the photos” he smiles taking out the film and slipping it into his bag. He sat down on the end of his bed and pulled on a size too small pair of green wellies that he thought always made him look a bit like a farmer and picked up his bag. He shut his door behind him and truged loudly in the heavy shoes down the stairs to the coat rack. He unhooked a dark black raincoat and pulled it on over his large, heavy jumper and pulled the hood from his jumper out and placed it over his head and lifted the raincoat hood over that one. As he stepped out side the rain began to get heavier. He watched as it bounced of the car roofs and of the wet, tarmac roads.

He walked down the street watching the cars all splash past, the drivers  looking happy, comfortable and warm in them. He rolled his eyes and thought, why do we move to somewhere that when it rains, it chucks it down. He smiled and laughed to himself as he reached the local supermarket. He stepped inside and pulled down the two hoods that clung to his head with water. He shook his arms and rain flew off onto the floor. He made his way to the back of the store where they do photograph developments. He walked up to the counter where a skinny woman sat. She had a mop of highlighted blonde hair pulled up carelessly into a pony tail.
“ Morning love, great weather outside isn`t it” She smiled as she chewed away on a piece of gum and filed her nails. Jack raised his eyebrows and swallowed. “ Yeh, lovely” He laughed sarcastically thinking it was just his luck to have to talk to someone chwing gum and having no care in the workd. He pulled the film canister out of his damp bag.
“ I would like to get these developed please” He said placing the canister on the counter top.
“ Sure thing.” She smiled bursting a bubble with her gum. She leaned behind her and grabbed a pad and pen and drew a heart on the corner of the paper to see it the pen worked, she looked up and smiled at him exposing a piece of gum being held captive between a set of stained yellow teeth, i`m guessing she smokes, he thought to himself.“ Whats your name then?” She asked burstung another bubble of gum.
“ Jack. Jack Chambers” He answered watching her scribble it down on the pad, her long red false nails clutching the biro. He stood watching her intently as she slowly curved the bottom of the `J` and began to write the `a` this could take a while he thought.
“Should be ready  in about 2 hours.” She smiled up at him handing as she finally finished writing his name. She handed  him a small ticket with his name and a number on it. He slipped into his back and smiled awkwardly. “Thank you.” He said turning round to leave.
“ S`ok love, I`ll see you later.” She said watching him walk away. As he heard her say this is quivered sligtly, still able to hear her chewing on the gum.
When he reached the door he pulled his hood over his damp hair and stepped outside into the rain again. He hd two hours to kill so he decided to go and see if his mum was at the station. As he was walking along the rain began to stop and the sun made a great effort to break through the clouds. He pulled down his hood and ran his hand through his tousled hair. When he reached the station he noticed his mums car sitting outside. He walked up the concrete steps and pushed open the door. Behind the desk sat a large man. His name badge read, John baker. He had heard his mum mention this man a few times. He was slouched back in the chair and tapped a few keys on the keybpard infront of him,to be honest, Jack was surprised he could reach it, the distance he was leaning back in the chair. As he walked up to the desk the man smiled and leaned forward and stood up from his chair. “ Hey there, can I help” He smiled kindly, his voice was deep and course.
“ Yeh, Im here to see my mum, Sarah Chambers.” He asked as he looked at the large man, he was suprisingly tall to what Jack had expected.
“ Of course, I shall just get her” He smiled once again and walked off down a brightly lit corridor. Jack turned round and sat down on one of the old, stiff brown chairs. He looked around the room, stuck on the walls were many posters about speeding, pick pocketers and knife crime. Behind the desk hung lots of certificates all encased in brown frames. Some were for people getting to different positions and some were for best community police station and community service. Just in view on the wall were a couple of pictures of men and women. Above the picture it said `wanted`. One man had a large scar across his left cheek, he had a very angry look on his face and had a large plug in his ear. Below the picture it said his name and stated that he was wanted for robbery. Jack raised his eyebrow and smiled to him self.
“ Hey Jack, you got my message then” his mum said as she walked down the corridor. He stood up and smiled at her. “ Yeh I did, why did you have to come down?” He asked remembering what the note had said.
“ Ah well there was an inncident reported this morning, a young girl was found dead in the forest, she had drowned in the pool by the waterfall yesterday evening we think.” She asnswered with a concerned look on her face. “ You were there yesterday,  don’t suppose you saw anything?” She asked him placing a hand on his shoulder.   “ Uh, no I didn’t see anything there when I was there” He answered. He stood there silent, she was right, he was there yesterday, it must have happened just after he left, but he hadnt seen anyone. “ Oh well,” she said looking out of the window. He looked at his watch, he still had an hour and half untill he had to go back to the store. “ Do you want to get some lunch?” He asked his mum looking at her, hoping she was going to say yes as he had nothing else to do, seeing as he did not have any friends yet as he had not started school. “Yeh sure,” she answered.  “Let me just get my coat” She said as she walked back down towards her office” He looked out the window, the sun now shone down on the town making the pools of water shimmer in the light.

They  walked across the street to a small café where a few people sat under an awning at small metal tables. He pushed open the door and a little bell rang as he did. He walked across the crowded room, feeling as if people were looking at him and they sat at a small table in the corner infront of the window. He slipped off his wet raincoat and hung it over the back of the chair. His mum took off her heavy police jacket and sat down, she looked very professional in her uniform. Jack picked up a menu that was held up between two small salt and pepper shakers. He skim read down the menu that was decorated with small, blury pictures of the meals. A small young girl came over to the table. She was the same age as Jack and although he did not know it yet, she attended the same school as him.
“ Hey there my name is Rachel, can I get you some drinks?” She smiled. Her voice was soft and delicate and her smile was warm and kind.  Jack looked up at her and smiled back, and could not help looking at her eyes. They were a soft brown colour and they immediately caught his. He then realised he was staring at her, he shook his head and look down quickly at his menu again.
“ I will have a coffee please,” ordered his mum,
“  Jack, what you having?” She asked him pulling down his menu he was trying to hide behind, feeling embaressed that she noticed him staring at her.  “Can I have a coke please,” he asked looking up at her again.
“ Sure thing, I shall bring them too you soon” she said as she scribble his order down onto her pad. As she walked away Jacks mum laughed and raised her eyebrows at him smiling. “ What?” he asked as he looked at the meals.
“ Nothing” she joked, Jack had a good idea of what she was going on about. “ Could you have been staring at her any harder,” laughed his mum as she closed her menu.
“ What, I don’t know what your talking about,” He said awkwardly, he always felt uncomfortable having these convosations with his mum, but he knew exactly what she meant. “Yeh ok Jack” she said sarcastically looking across at him. “ He closed his menu and tried to casually look across the room to see if Rachel, the waitress was there.  She was standing across the room taking another groups order. Her hair was a light blondy brown colour which tied up into a pony tail. She was slim and just a bit smaller than Jack. Her outfit was a typical waitresses outfit. She wore a black skirt and white, short sleved blouse. Tied around her waist was a black apron that had been folded over so just the pockets were at the front. She teared of the order slip from the pad and put it in one of the pockets. A bell rang from the counter and she walked across and placed the order ticket on the counter where another waiter took it too the kitchen. She picked up a tray of drink and began to walk back across to where he was sitting. He quickly looked back and started a convosation with his mum.
“ So, was it raining when you left?” He asked realising what a stupid question that was.
“ Um a little bit yes.” She answered a bit confused why they were talking about the weather. Rachel came and Placed the drinks on the table and laughed. “ Yes ther weather is horribile at the moment isnt it,” She smiled looking out of th window. She then looked down at Jacks mum and noticed her uniform. “ Oh are you the new community police officer” She said looking at the badge on his mums uniform.
“ Yes,” She smiled up at the young girl. “My name is Sarah Chambers, and this is my son Jack, we have just moved here from the city.” She said looking across at Jack.
“ Oh well, welcome to Nordmara Mrs Chambers. My name is Rachel Collins.” She replied and then turned to Jack. “ So are you going to Nordmara high school?” She asked, hoping he was going to say yes.
“ Uh yeh I am, starting tomorrow.” He replied looking up at her again. She smiled widely pleased with his answer and took out her pad again. “ Well hopefully I will see you around school at some point.” She laughed softly. “ Now what can I get for you two?” She asked taking out her pen.
After they ordered there food Rachel went and took more orders and every so oftern Jack would look across at her and every so oftern she would look back across at the table where the two newbies of the town sat. Ocassionaly there eyes would meet and they would smile. Jacks mum did not notice as she spend a lot of time on the phone to her friend who was back in the city and only called at lunch time. While they ate their lunch Jack and his mum started talking about his new school. This convosation made him uncomfortable as he never liked starting new schools so he was not particularly looking forward to tomorrow. “ Well at least you will know one person there.” She said looking across at Rachel who was taking more orders. “ Jack followed his mums gaze.
“ Yeh I guess, I don’t really know her though.” He said looking back out of the window behind his mum, he could just see the tops of the trees behind the buildings, he then remembered about the photographs and did not think about school or Rachel for the rest of the meal. When they finished she came across to the table and took their money, Jack stood up and pulled on his wet raincoat again. Rachel came back to their table and said to Jack, “ Well hopefully I will see you at school tomorrow.” She smiled that soft warm smile again and left them. He looked at his mum who was smiling at him. “ Looks like you have an admirer.” She laughed pushing open the door. He followed her out of the café ignoring her last comment, though inside, he hoped it was true, he felt like he knew Rachel already, even though they had only known each other for about two hours.

“ Well I have to go back to work so I shall see you later.” She said walking across to the station.
“Ok yeh I will see you at home.” He replied as he began to walk back down the street.
“ Oh actually.” His mum called and she reached into her pocket and gave him a list and a scrumpled £10 note. “ Can you get this stuff for me please.” She said handing it to him and walking back to the police station. He picked up the note in his other hand and read the stuff he needed to get. He rolled his eyes and made his way back to the Super market.

Chapter 4:
The automatic door of the supermarket opened and he walked in. As he made his way to the back of the store once more he was looking round to see if the gum bursting woman was there still. When he reached the counter there she was.  “Hey love, you back for your photos?” She asked. What else would I want thought Jack as he nodded and murmured “Yes please.” He took the white slip she had given him earlier out of his bag and handed it over to her. Thankfully it seemed she was no longer chewing the gum. She disappeared through a small wooden door and did not return for about 5 minutes. Whilst he was waiting he looked around the shop, watching all the people going round pushing trolleys full of food around and heaving heavy baskets down the aisles. Then he saw her. Rachel. She walked into the shop and picked up a basket by the door. Jack quickly spun round to face the counter, wishing the woman would hurry up. As she came out Jack threw the money down on the counter and stuffed the photos into his bag. “Thank you,” he said walking towards the door as quick as he could, he did not want Rachel to see him as he still felt embarrassed about staring at her in the café and how she noticed. As he left then shop he put his hand in his pocket and felt the scrunched up shopping list. He groaned and turned round and went back into the shop. He picked up a basket from the front of the shop and walked towards one of the vegetable aisles. He quickly picked up what he needed and then headed towards the next aisle. He picked up a bag of rice and pasta and placed them into the basket, then turned the corner to go down the next aisle but he walked into something. It was Rachel. “Oh hey… Jack wasn’t it?” She asked with that kind smile on her face again. He bit his lip trying not to smile to widely. As much as he didn’t want to see her, he also did. “Hey Rachel, I’m sorry I didn’t see you there.” He apologised stepping back slightly.  “Its ok, it’s good to see your not staring this time.” She joked as she placed a jar in her basket.  Jack laughed awkwardly “Yes sorry about that, I didn’t mean to, I mean I didn’t mean for you to catch me staring.”
“Ok…” She laughed, slightly confused. Jack started to relax and smiled at her, taking in her beauty as he stood talking to her.
“It’s just, well… I think you… are like… pretty.” He finally said, he could feel his cheeks going red.
“So you finished work now?” He asked quickly, though the answer was pretty clear seeing as now she was wearing jeans and a jacket instead of her waitress clothes.
“Yeh finished just after you left actually, and thank you.” She replied leaning against the end of the shelf.
“Oh right, well yeh my mum asked me to pick some stuff up so...” he said, soon wishing he didn’t, why would she care. It was one of the most awkward conversations he had had in a while now. “Yeh same, well for my dad, he works at the station with your mum actually.” She smiled looking down at her list to see what else she needed. “Oh, cool well maybe I will get to meet him sometime. Anyway I better get going, so I will see you at school tomorrow maybe.” He said quickly, running out of things to say.
“Yeh, well I was thinking, do you want to maybe meet up tomorrow after school, I can show you around or something?” She asked quickly, not making eye contact with him. Jack smiled widely.
“Yeh, that would be great, thank you.” He answered.
“Well I shall see you tomorrow then.” She said walking past him.
“Yeh, see you tomorrow.” He replied going down the aisle she just came up, making sure he did not faint with excitement. It was rare that he finds girls that he feels happy and slightly comfortable around. But now there was Rachel, she was pretty, kind and made him feel happy inside, she was… different.

He paid for the shopping and left the shop smiling. As he walked along the street the rain began to fall again, with black clouds covering the town again. Cars once again drove by splashing along the road, drivers still happy and warm. He then remembered about the photographs, and with this everything came back into his mind. The photos, the forest, the colours and the song. He started to walk a pace quicker, not only to get out of the rain, but to get home so he can look at the photographs, he could feel his hopes getting up again, like they had when he read about the waterfall on the internet.

When he reached his house he pulled out his keys and fumbled trying to find the right one with one hand and the carrier bag was in his other. He finally grabbed the right one and unlocked the door pushing it open with his foot and pulling the keys out as he went in. He gave a sigh of relief when he closed the door, thankful to be in the nice dry warm house instead of out in the rain. He took the bags into the kitchen and began to put the food away. As soon as he was done he snatched his bag of the floor where he had dropped it when he came in and leaped upstairs to his room. He closed the door behind him and jumped onto his chair, which spun round as he did. He unbuckled his bag and pulled out the envelope of photographs. He ripped it open and quickly searched through the first  few pictures which were just of different flowers and animals, he passed the photograph he took of the dragonfly and of the oak trees and then slowed down. He began studying each picture carefully, looking for anything abnormal in them. Then he found the pictures of the Waterfall. The first few showed nothing different, they were just of the water and trees. Then he saw it. Right in the corner of the picture. Not what he was expecting at all.

Chapter 5:
He dropped the pile of photographs on the floor but kept this one clutched firmly in his hand staring at his, not daring to take his eyes off it, just incase it disappeared. He blinked and couple of times, just to make sure he was really seeing what he was seeing. In the corner of the photograph, looking out from behind the curtain of falling water was what looked like a human. But it looked different to normal humans its looks were…. captivating.
He continued to stare at the photograph. It was almost like the photo had taken over him. He let out a quick breath. “What is that?” He questioned. Coming back to life he dropped the photo on the desk and quickly scooped up the others from the floor. He looked intently at the next photo, she was still there, it was a female figure. She was also in the next one, and then the next. But then she disappeared, she was no longer there in the next photo. He skipped back to the last one she was in and she appeared much clearer and closer, but still quite blurry. All he could make out was a bright red worn dress and long blond hair. He couldn’t believe it. It wasn’t like it was just someone who was in the shot. There was no one there with him that day, and she looked so different from normal people.

He placed the photos of her too one side and looked through the rest. In one of the photographs you could see the stripes of colour behind the waterfall. One was just coming out from behind the water and at the end of it, was just a bright colour, like a flash had been caught in the picture.  The next couple of photographs all showed this, bright stripes of colour. He put them all together next to the ones of the woman and looked at the last few.
